What is Calistoga Ranch?
Calistoga Ranch is a private vineyard retreat nestled on 157 acres in idyllic Napa Valley, featuring an exclusive member-owned lodging club as well as a luxury resort with guest rooms. The lodging club's two-bedroom Owner Lodges are architecturally innovative, sophisticated and private. Tucked among a forest of canopied trees, each furnished lodge consists of interconnected indoor and outdoor living spaces. Plus, the resort amenities include a gracious reception court with event lawn, a waterside Lakehouse with private dining facilities, The Bathhouse health and wellness services, a vineyard, wine cave and a heated outdoor swimming pool. Management of every aspect of the Calistoga Ranch, from concierge services, to dining to spa services, is provided by internationally acclaimed Auberge Resorts. Back To Top
Who created Calistoga Ranch?
Calistoga Ranch is the result of great vision shared by prominent developer Criswell Radovan, Auberge Resorts, and a team of well-known architects and designers including Sandy Babcock Architects (architect); Jack Chandler Associates (landscape architect); Darrell Schmitt Design Associates (interior designer); and Projects Pacific (land planner). This team has created a very special vineyard retreat set among towering pine and oak trees within a protected canyon in the upper Napa Valley. Back To Top
What is the legal structure of the club and membership?
Because of Calistoga Ranch's unique and highly coveted location in Napa Valley's Agricultural Watershed District, subdivisions are not permitted. Thus, ownership is realized through a perpetual membership in the Calistoga Ranch Club, which will be controlled by you and your fellow members. The Club is an equity club (just like an equity golf or country club), where the Club owns the land and all of the buildings, and the Members own the Club. The Resort has a 99-year use right for the Guest Lodges and all of the common area and amenity buildings, and Club Members have full access to those common areas and amenity buildings. Back To Top
Why was the member-owned lodging club concept developed?
Calistoga Ranch was conceived to provide more convenience, services and amenities than an equally luxurious Napa Valley home. It also offers members as much use as they would require in a typical Napa Valley second home without the responsibilities associated with such ownership. So, the price of ownership is better matched with actual use. Back To Top
Are there similar clubs at other prestigious resort home communities?
Yes. Similar clubs operate with great success in other highly desirable locations such as Aspen, Vail and Telluride, Colorado; Deer Valley, Utah; Manhattan, New York; and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Back To Top
Who manages the club and its membership policies?
While the master landowner and developer maintain certain legal responsibilities for the common area and Resort sites, it should be clear that you, the owners, have the only voices regarding matters of club policies and membership - just like other clubs with member ownership structures. You also have a voice in the common area use and maintenance. As such, the Calistoga Ranch Club, under the control of its member-elected board, determines policies regarding reservations, common area use by members, maintenance, services, and so forth. Who is in charge of the day-to-day services at Calistoga Ranch?
Calistoga Ranch is managed by Auberge Resorts, owner/operator of a collection of exceptional resort properties, all with distinctive personalities that assure unique and memorable guest experiences. Other Auberge Resorts properties include Auberge du Soleil in the Napa Valley; Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and The Lodge at CordeValle near San Jose. At Calistoga Ranch, the Auberge-trained staff is responsible for ensuring that every aspect of your stay is enjoyable with unobtrusive service that practically anticipates your every whim -- from exquisite dinners at The Lakehouse, to catered parties or cooking demonstrations in your home. Plus, they will make sure your lodge is ready before you arrive even to the point of stocking it with groceries and your personal items. Back To Top
How many interests will be sold?
No more than 270 interests may be sold, based on ten possible interests at each of the 27 Owner Lodges. It is possible that our 46 Guest Lodges might be converted and sold as a distinct membership category, but there are no plans to do so. Back To Top
Will there be social memberships?
Calistoga Ranch may have a limited number of social memberships available at some point in the future. To date, however, the only kind of social memberships that have been created are reserved for a select number of local vintners. These memberships grant day use of the Calistoga Ranch facilities to the Vintner Members in exchange for their hosting of special wine-related events for members and guests. A Vintner Membership is not a membership in the Calistoga Ranch Club and does not include use of an Owner Lodge. Back To Top
Can more than one family or individual own a single membership?
Yes. However, it will be up to the joint owners to allocate use of that membership in compliance with the Lodging Privileges and Procedures. Owners purchasing as a group or a business will similarly be required to limit Short Notice Use to one designated Member each Club Year. Back To Top
How do I plan or schedule my time at Calistoga Ranch?
We have designed our scheduling system to give owners all the access they desire to Calistoga Ranch throughout the year. As an owner, you have the opportunity to plan a stay at Calistoga Ranch at the last minute. Or, you can decide to schedule ahead for those important occasions. Because we limit the time that can actually be reserved in advance by all members collectively to no more than five months of the year, there should almost always be time available so that you will be able to use the Owner Lodges as often as you want. Back To Top
As an owner, you can plan time at Calistoga Ranch in three ways, including: Short Notice Use, Space Available Use and Planned Use.
Planned Use
There are always times throughout the year that you will look forward to spending with family or friends in the lodging club. For these special occasions, celebrations and holidays, we provide you with two weeks of Planned Use each year. These stays can be scheduled as individual weeks, two-week increments, or you could book multiple Owner Lodges during the same set of dates. Obviously, in the latter case, you will use up your Planned Use privileges in a shorter amount of time. Back To Top
Space Available Use
Space Available Use offers you another path to enjoying the lodging club, subject to availability of an Owner Lodge. It is an ideal way to schedule visits based on opportunities you might see in the schedule. Plus, it's an unlimited resource. So, as soon as you use (or cancel) a Space Available Use, you can book another one. Members may have one Space Available Use scheduled at any time. Back To Top
Short Notice Use
When you decide to visit Calistoga Ranch without planning ahead, the Short Notice Use is ideal. Subject to availability of an Owner Lodge, you may make a Short Notice Use reservation up to seven days prior to your desired arrival date.
During the year, it is possible for Members to have as many as four stays in the Owner Lodges scheduled at once, including one Short Notice Use, one Space Available Use, and two Planned Uses. Finally, it is important to remember that, even if every owner uses 100% of their Planned Uses, a full seven months of the year has been set aside for the more flexible uses that enable you stay at Calistoga Ranch when it is most convenient for you. For further information about scheduling please refer to the Calistoga Ranch Lodging Privileges and Procedures. Back To Top
Finally, because we will have several owners in each lodge, we know there is a concern about equality in the process of attempting to accommodate everyone's requested Planned Use dates - particularly during the high demand periods of the year. This is why we developed the rotating priority system. In our system, a priority number (based on the original Membership number) is assigned to each Membership Reservation Form prior to confirmation of Planned Uses. This number will rotate each year and is used to allocate Planned Uses equitably among the Owners. The Space Available and Short Notice Uses are scheduled throughout the year on a first-come, first-reserved basis, with no limit to the total number of times you use them. Back To Top
Do owners have guest privileges?
Yes. Guests staying with a member in the same Owner Lodge or sent to stay unaccompanied are allowed to visit Calistoga Ranch at no charge. There is no limit to the amount of times you may send guests to use the Owner Lodges, subject to the guidelines of our Lodging Privileges and Procedures. Back To Top
Will Calistoga Ranch be open to the public?
When fully subscribed, Calistoga Ranch will be operated solely for the use, benefit and enjoyment of its members, their families and guests, and a fortunate group of Resort guests. The common areas, amenities and services have been designed to ensure the utmost privacy for the Lodging Club members and their designated guests while also allowing a limited number of Resort guests to experience the best of this unique property. The Lakehouse and the other amenities at Calistoga Ranch will not be open to the public other than the Club members and their guests, the Resort guests, and the Vintner or other social members. Back To Top
What do Resort guests experience at Calistoga Ranch?
Most of the 46 Resort Guest Lodges are physically separated from Owner Lodges by the creek that flows from Lake Lommel. While Members may have certain events and services offered exclusively to them (such as the Vintner Member events, pre-arrival grocery shopping, and storage of member belongings), the resort guests will otherwise enjoy the same common area amenities, services, and desirability that are available to the Members. Back To Top
What do I get for my annual fees?
The annual assessments pay for the typical costs of property ownership and the professional management and operation of the Calistoga Ranch Club facilities and amenities. Included in these annual fees are property taxes; insurance; staff salaries; supplies; daily housekeeping (i.e., general clean-up, beds, dishes and trash removal), twice weekly linen change; full cleaning after departure; interior and exterior and landscape maintenance; window washing; legal/accounting; utilities and reserves for replacement and/or refurbishing of furniture and facilities. There is no per-visit charge, no matter how many times you use the Owner Lodges during the year. Just think about it, you never have to worry about maintenance or repairs, and you have all the services of a luxury resort!
Do I pay any additional fees when I stay at my Lodge at Calistoga Ranch?
Other than the incidental charges you might incur for food, beverage or spa services, there are no additional fees during a typical visit to Calistoga Ranch. We believe a "cashless" experience on the property helps further the relaxation and enjoyment of your visits. Your annual dues include all gratuities, except those that are automatically added to your meals and/or spa usage. You will be automatically billed for incidentals; your guests, however, will be asked to pay for incidentals upon departure. Back To Top
As an owner, can I use the facilities if I'm not staying overnight?
Yes. Owners can use Calistoga Ranch amenities and services, even when they're not visiting overnight.
Can members rent their confirmed lodging club visits?
No. The lodging club at Calistoga Ranch is for the exclusive enjoyment of its owners and their invited guests.
Can a membership be resold?
Yes. A member's ownership interest can be sold or transferred by the member. This can be done through the Calistoga Ranch resale program, or through a licensed real estate agent using the multiple listing service, subject to the Calistoga Ranch Club Governance documents. Back To Top
Can I leave clothing and equipment at Calistoga Ranch?

Our concierge will be happy to help arrange kennel services for members staying in "non-pet" lodges. Any extraordinary wear and tear or damage to an Owner Lodge from pets will be charged to the Owner. Back To Top
Are owners allowed to modify the Owner Lodges?
